Long have we felt that, with such an evocative name (and life), Moses Snook deserves a New York Cider Company blend in his honor. The 19th-century horse breeder, farmer, and highway commissioner built our Ithaca, NY, farmhouse, and his name is inscribed on the massive beams in the old hay barn. We like to think that old man Snook (who knows if he was old or not?) planted the ancient orchard nearby where we still gather heirloom apples from the arthritic 150-year-old trees. It's been a few years, but we have created a sparkling cider with the character to bear the name once again. 'Thanks to ripe Golden Russet, Dabinet, Rhode Island Green-ing, and Newtown Pippin apples, MOSES SNOOK #2 is big, rich, and dry. And deserving of a rocking chair, a porch, and a vista. Enjoy cool.
